A proof sheet is how a client tells you which photos they want without any confusion: every frame has a number, and "7, 12 and 30" means the same to both of you. Drop the shoot above, check the first page, and send the PDF. RAW files from the card work too, using the camera's own preview.

The photos are read on your computer and never uploaded, so a client's wedding or family shoot doesn't pass through anyone else's server.
